Paris, June 11 (BNA): Kuwait participated in the International Council of Museums (ICOM) Annual Meetings in Paris.

The Advisor to Secretary General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) Dr. Walid Al-Seif said to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that he had met on the sidelines of the meetings with ICOM President Suay Aksoy who welcomed Kuwait's first participation in the gathering held at the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) headquarters.

A major decision adopted by the meetings was selecting Egypt's Alexandria to host the General Conference in 2022, after competition with Poland and the Czech Republic, Al-Seif added.
“Kuwait has treasures of antiquities discovered by exploration missions since the 1950s that date back to about 6000 years. They fall under NCCAL supervision,” he said.
ICOM, created in 1946, is the only organisation of museums and museum professionals with a global scope, committed to the promotion and protection of natural and cultural heritage, present and future, tangible and intangible.
With approximately 35,000 members in 137 countries, ICOM is a network of museum professionals acting in a wide range of museum- and heritage-related disciplines.
