Kuwait, June 3 (BNA): Kuwait provided Ramadan meals to thousands of Muslims in Iraq and Malaysia and sent aid relief to people across Yemen, whose homes were devastated by Cyclone Mekunu.
Kuwaiti charity, Ar Rahma International, handed out iftar food parcels to 1,000 Palestinian families in Gaza celebrating the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
“The aid to residents of the occupied territory, who are suffering from difficult economic conditions due to the Israeli-imposed blockade, will continue over the two remaining weeks of the occasion,” the charity's representative Emad Kaheel said.
The Gulf nation's embassy in Malaysia launched its own annual iftar programme, providing the meals to over 5,300 people.
The meals were handed out to people in mosques, orphanages, and schools at the capital as well remote villages in the Southeast Asian country, adding that the endeavour cost $ 25,000, the ambassador said.

In Iraq's Kurdistan region, displaced Iraqis were invited once again to ongoing iftar meals provided by the Kuwaiti people through charity during Ramadan.
The meals were handed out by Zakat House and Kuwait's General Awqaf Secretariat, in cooperation with local humanitarian organisations, Kuwait Consulate General in Irbil Omar Al-Kanderi said.
In Yemen, Kuwait Red Crescent Society began distributing its series of humanitarian relief batches to homes affected by the destructive Cyclone Mekunu that killed five people and led to the disappearance of another 40.
The relief, which targets the inhabitants of the island of Socotra which was the most severely affected by the storm, includes food parcels and blankets, the body's chief Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer said.
For Syrian refugee children currently hosted by Turkey, Kuwaiti charity, Al-Najat, opened up a new school located in the southern Turkish province of Sanliurfa.
