RUW celebrates Bahrain National Sports Day

Manama, Feb. 13 (BNA): Royal University for Women (RUW) celebrated Bahrain National Sports Day with the participation of students, academics and administrative staff. The participation reflects the University's interest in participating in National Events and shaping a vibrant and functional learning environment.

In line with the directive received from the Higher Education Council, Royal University for Women organized the annual celebrations marking Bahrain National Sports Day on February 13th, 2018 between 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, at Royal University for Women campus in Riffa. This has witnessed an active participation by a number of students, academics and administrative staff, led by Prof. Mazin Jumaah, President of Royal University for Women.

The event included a number of sports competitions and activities, including a 4 kilometers Walkathon that started from the Sports Center and ended by the Residence. It was followed by Basketball, Football and Handball games that have been held in an extremely enthusiastic atmosphere in the stadium, bringing together a team of academic and administrative staff against a team of students. The Office of Student Affairs, in cooperation with the Student Council, also provided a number of food trucks that served healthy food, in addition to securing information about healthy habits that emphasize the importance of sports in our fast-paced lifestyle.

Prof. Mazin Jumaah, expressed his appreciation having the opportunity to spend this valuable time in sport recreational activities. "We took the opportunity today to strengthen our social relations with RUW staff and students as we interacted while walking, we enjoyed playing sports and we felt challenged during the competitions. It was a really enjoyable day," said Dr Mona Suri, Academic Vice President.

She further added that "sports should be practiced on a regular basis by one and all as it is a major contributor to a healthy lifestyle and reiterated the state of the Art Sports facilities available to students and staff of RUW". Ms. Noora Jassim from College of Law also added "It was a long time since I practiced sports and today I felt the enthusiasm and joy in participating with my students and colleagues. I thoroughly enjoyed participating in the event as it helps maintain a healthy lifestyle. I thank the Sports Center and the University for organizing this event and their constant support they provide to students in all respects."

The Royal University for Women celebrations are in line with celebrations of Bahrain National Sports Day that are being organized annually in the Kingdom of Bahrain and is attended by all members of the community across its governmental and private sectors in the second week of February of each year.
