Cairo, Feb. 12 (BNA): Kuwaiti National Assembly and Arab Parliament member, Ali Al-Deqbasi, has affirmed that "reforming the Arab League and its affiliate organizations would give impetus to joint action in all domains."

"Reforming the Arab League would help Arab countries achieve their aspired goals in various domains, notably the economy, national security, human rights and humanitarian action," Al-Deqbasi told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on sidelines of Kuwait's chairing of the meeting of the Arab Parliament's committee in charge of the Arab League reform, in Cairo.

"Kuwait is a great believer in the importance of the Arab League's reform. Arab countries have to increase synergy and cooperation to stand up to the huge dangers and challenges facing Arab national security and economies," he said. He cited "Kuwait as a role model in turning a new leaf to help cement Arab unity."

"Kuwait has turned a new page in relations with Iraq after defunct Saddam Hussain's regime attempt to wipe it out of the map, a crisis which hit hard Arab unity, he said. Kuwait will host an international conference for the reconstruction of Iraq," he said.

Al-Deqbasi said that "a number of Arab Parliament committees have commenced their activities in Cairo Sunday, particularly the Palestine and the scientific research panel."

He lauded the effective and outstanding contributions of Kuwaiti MPs and Arab Parliament members in the meetings of these committees, KUNA reported.
